Welcome to my blog tour with Prism!

I’m thrilled to be celebrating the release of my new book, Her Surprise Engagement, in my series City by the Bay Stories with Harlequin Heartwarming. Her Surprise Engagement is a sweet contemporary romance that brings together single mom, Nichole Moore and football star, Chase Jacobs. . .

Hallie Reads - Review

"Her Surprise Engagement is just such a delight to read. A sports romance with a fake relationship and friends-to-more… It all works so well together, especially with Nichole and Chase as the lovable couple at the center of it. Their personalities may be opposite in several ways, but their chemistry is undeniable. I easily enjoyed this romance."

Remembrancy - Review

"I was drawn into this story from the get-go because it was both fun and heartwarming. . . . Add in both Nicole’s and Chase’s families and Cari Lynn Webb has delivered a sweet, sometimes humorous, and all-around enjoyable story."

He held out his hand. “Do we have a deal then?”

She set her hand in his. “We’re in a business arrangement.”

“We’ve been friends too long to ink our fake marriage with a handshake.” And because he’d always been a risk-taker, he stood and pulled her toward him. “Let’s seal the deal correctly?”

"Webb places you into her storyline rather immediately - you instantly know what is mot important to the lives of her characters simply by observing where we're meeting them in the text. Nichole and Chase have rather immediate needs at the start of this novel which allows the story to unfold at a quicker pace than others. I enjoyed seeing how Webb was going to heal the distance between them but also, tuck closer to whom they've become whilst they've been apart. . . this is a story that is anchoured by a resolve of unquestioning trust between two best friends who understand each other better than they understand themselves."

Pause for Tales - Review

"What a super cute and romantic read this one was. Marriage of convenience stories are my favorite trope, and this one was pretty close. . . . I really enjoyed this sweet little story that left me smiling all the way to the end."

Wishful Endings - Excerpt

“I like Nichole.” Nonna adjusted the colander in the sink and nodded at Chase to empty the pot. “I like her a lot.”

“I like Nichole too.” And he did. More than he wanted to admit.

“You can’t treat her like the others, Chase.” Nonna picked up the potato ricer and handed it to Chase. “Her heart is good. She’s not used to your lifestyle.”

“What others?” Chase grabbed another mixing bowl and the potato ricer. He’d dated other women. Nothing serious. Nothing lasting. He wouldn’t have asked any of his past girlfriends to act as his pretend wife. One would’ve misinterpreted the pretend part. Two would’ve reminded him that marriage wasn’t part of their five-or ten-year career plans.

"Oh my goodness. I immediately sighed internally after reading the last few pages of this book and I think my eyes literally turned into hearts. These two are beyond words! This book was such a sweet, adorable mix of fake relationship and friends to lovers, which are two of my favorite romance tropes. It was a match made in heaven. The chemistry between Chase and Nichole was off the charts and crazy cute!"

"This friends-to-more / fake marriage story has some super swoony kisses, sweet moments & great characters. The author draws you into the story right away & keeps your attention until the end – and you’ll be rooting for Chase & Nicole’s fake relationship to become real. A cute weekend read you’ll enjoy!"

"Nichole has a son that makes the book enjoyable. I love how they do things together with her son. . . . Her Surprise Engagement has a lot of family and friends. I loved all the different relationships."

Splashes of Joy - Review

"Chase and Nicole are wonderful characters. I love the way their lives intertwine and I really loved following their journey of their fake marriage. . . . There is a lot going on in this story, twists and turns weaved throughout that make the story well worth your read.

I have read a number of Cari Lynn Webb’s books and have enjoyed them all, and this one is no different. I love reading the sweet Heartwarming romances from Harlequin . . ."

He stepped closer to her. “Let’s make a deal.”

Deal? Nichole moved toward him and tipped her head to lock her gaze on his. The last deal she’d made with Chase had her married to him. How much worse could it get? “What do you have in mind?”

“You make your food.” He grimaced and recovered. His gaze warmed and searched her face. “I’ll make my version and we see which one everyone prefers.”

“What are you making exactly?” Nichole eyed him. He reached forward, brushed her hair off her shoulder. His touch light and swift. But the effect left her restless and wishful. She cleared her throat. “It has to be healthy, no ice cream or brownies to sway the vote.” No more tugs on her heart to sway her resolve.

"This story had a lot of fun tropes within it: friends to more, second chance romance, fake marriage, and one of the characters was a famous sports figure. . . . It was enjoyable to watch as their fake relationship turned to more."

"Her Surprise Engagement is a fun and super cute read that kept me entertained throughout the entire novel. . . . I got to know the characters and felt like I was part of everything that was going on in their lives. This is part of a series but can be read as a standalone. If any reader is looking for a truly heartwarming novel than I recommend this one."

Harlie's Books - Excerpt & Review

Nichole gathered the extra clothing they hadn’t used for their snowmen.

Chase picked up a scarf, shook off the snow and set it gently on the pile she held. He asked, “Want some help with lunch?”

She wanted help remembering their kiss had been a mistake. She wanted help putting a wedge between him and her son. She wanted help reminding herself this was all pretend. “We’ve got it. Don’t you want to go explore with the boys?”

He tugged her hat over her forehead. “We never talked about that kiss. Or our options.”

"I’ve read every book in the series and this is my favorite. I don’t try to play favorites but I just loved Chase and Nichole. For me, the book had a great storyline, perfect pacing, the situations that they went through, and let’s not forget that this one is hilarious. Ms. Webb has really written a well-thought-out, pitch-perfect story about two people that were childhood friends that reconnect in the most hilarious situation."

"Oh how I love friends-to-more sweet romances. And this one fits the bill perfectly. I was drawn in from the first lines, because it let me know, right off, what kind of story I was getting into. Good, clean romance. . . . this story is enjoyable, flows well, and has excellent character development. . . . This is a charming friends-to-more romance that gives you sighs and smiles throughout."

"The novel is a perfect read for readers who like a cozy romantic read. I thought the characters were well developed and likable. I felt that Nichole shouldn't have lied to her son about her relationship with Chase. Thankfully, since this a heartwarming romance novels, things have a way of working out for the best."

“I want to protect him.” From Chase. From getting hurt. From suffering. And she wanted to protect herself. But she worried she might already be too late.

Her grandmother shuffled back to the stove. “Sometimes the best we can do is love them with all we’ve got.”

“And when they get hurt?” Nichole picked up the salad bowl.

“We love them that much harder.”

Nichole clutched the stainless steel bowl against her stomach. “Is that enough?”

“Love is always enough.” Her grandmother smiled and tipped her head toward the wide windows.

"I loved the message of seeing beyond appearances, as well as loving harder, and love is always enough in this sweet, feel-good read. Webb clearly knows how to write a story that touches on what we all want from life – whether it be a career or family, even a second chance."

He sat on the couch beside his grandmother and checked his phone again.

“Something more important on your phone than your family?” Nonna dabbed a napkin against her cheek.

“I’m waiting to hear from Nichole.” Chase flipped his phone over in his hands. Had Nichole changed her mind about car pool pickup? About their deal? “This wasn’t the way it was supposed to go.”

Nonna placed her hand on his arm, drawing his gaze to her wisdom-aged whiskey-brown eyes. “We can plan all we want, but love has its own mind and its own agenda.”

"Her Surprise Engagement was another great read by Cari Lynn Webb. I have read and enjoyed her books in the past and this one is probably among one of my favorites by her. I loved the chemistry between Nichole and Chase. . . . I am giving Her Surprise Engagement a very well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend this for readers who enjoy sports romance."

Thank you for joining me for the Christmas in Bayberry blog tour!

I know it’s hot here in the northern hemisphere and not exactly Christmastime but… maybe that’s the best time to visit a small town in snowy Vermont. So grab a nice cold drink and curl up to take an armchair vacation in a warm, cozy town. . .

"This is truly a Christmas reading delight! . . . This tale is such a relaxing drama, enclosed within a small town full of "Christmas Spirit". although quite predictable, it is endearing and the characters and scenes"draws one in"."

Pause for Tales - Review

"If you are looking for a little Christmas in July, look no further than Christmas in Bayberry. And if you adore Hallmark movies, you will enjoy this story from Hallmark Publishing. . . . As Wes and Kate navigate business and their attraction to each other grows, both of their dreams become at risk. Finding out what is most important to each other made this heartwarming story a welcome read."

"This is truly the sweetest Christmas book I’ve read in quite sometime . . . Jennifer’s writing and detailed descriptions have you feeling as if you are in this small town Vermont. . . . I highly recommend this beauty to get you in the holiday spirit!"

Remembrancy - Review

"The temperature outside may be in the 90s right now, but Christmas in Bayberry put me right in the holiday mood. Though a bit predictable (but Hallmark wouldn’t be Hallmark without their signature happy endings, now would they?), it is a sweet and fun escape."

Wes stepped up to his boss’s very large oak desk. “Here’s the file you requested. Everything should be in there.”

“Thank you.” Mr. Summers took the folder, then gestured to the two charcoal gray chairs in front of his desk. “Take a seat.”

Wes was torn between doing what the president of the company wanted or speaking up about his pending meeting. After all, Mr. Summers had the final say on who got the promotion. Wes had to stay on the man’s good side, but he also had to get his work done.

Wes’s mouth grew dry. He swallowed hard. “Sir, I’m expected in the conference room on the twelfth floor right now.”

Mr. Summers leaned forward, resting his elbows on the large oak desk. “They can wait.” His gray brows drew together in a formidable line. “This is important.”

Splashes of Joy - Review

"This is my favorite book that I have read by Jennifer Faye. It is a Hallmark Christmas Story, so if you are a fan of Hallmark movies, you will love this one! . . . If you love sweet, cozy, snowy, small town Christmas stories, Christmas in Bayberry is a must for you! I [thoroughly] enjoyed this Christmas in July read, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did, whether you read it in July, or closer to Christmas!"

I'm Into Books - Spotlight

"In true Hallmark Channel fashion, this is a story which has an HEA and a homey afterglow - where you know that for the towne of Bayberry, nothing is ever impossible until you reach the point where you cannot believe in the small miracles which evoke the most change in your life."

"In the classic Hallmark style, Christmas in Bayberry is a swoony, feel-good, cozy read. And Bayberry, Vermont is the pinnacle setting to tug me into the Christmas (in July) mood. . . . If you enjoy a rosy-clean slow-burn romance and second chances in a magical holiday atmosphere, you’ll surely sink into Christmas in Bayberry (and you may not want to leave.)"

"I have read several books penned by Jennifer Faye and this was my favorite so far, The idyllic setting of Bayberry, Vermont, the close knit community and their Christmas festivities brought the story to life before my eyes. . . . I thought this was a fantastic book that is suitable for all ages and would make a perfect Christmas gift for the reader in your life. It flows at a great pace, it held my interest throughout . . ."

"I enjoyed this book so much. I can definitely see it as a Hallmark Christmas Movie. . . . A story I enjoyed reading as a Christmas in July book. I definitely recommend reading this book."

E-Romance News - Excerpt

“Bayberry Candle Company” was printed across the top of each sheet. The breath caught in her throat. This was it—the evaluation of the company.

Kate knew she shouldn’t look, but it was like watching a train accident: You just couldn’t turn away. As she assembled the pages in numeric order, she noticed on the next-to-last sheet a header that read: “Conclusions.”

Her heart clenched. She stared at the words.

Please let it be a vote to keep the business operating.

Please. Please. Please.

Her gaze skimmed down the page. And then it stopped.

"Jennifer Faye captures the small town charm of a Hallmark movie and weaves it into a sweet romance with a nod to Christmas miracles. Well-written & entertaining, the story also balances Hallmark’s comforting predictability with a couple twists & turns that may still surprise you. The characters are warm & likable and you’ll want to book a trip of your own to the quaint town of Bayberry!"

"It’s beautiful, moving, and so heartwarming. . . . It was an absolutely delightful read. The small town “every one works there or knows someone who does” plot line was perfection. . . . I highly recommend this sweet book for those who LOVE clean, feel good, small-town Christmas romances. Fans of Hallmark movies will more than likely love this story. And, I’m pretty certain fans of the author will be delighted as well."

"Immediately upon opening the pages of this book, I was transported to snowy, small towns, twinkling fairy lights and hot chocolate curled up by the fireplace. This is my first book by Jennifer Faye, but it won't be my last. I thoroughly enjoyed this cozy Christmasy read."

Harlie's Books - Review

". . . I was totally invested in the town, Kate and Wes but also in the story. Ms. Faye is an excellent storyteller and takes her time here. It’s in-depth, romantic, heartwarming, and just overall a great book to read now in the heat of the summer. . . Do yourself a favor and start reading Ms. Faye. Especially this book. It will warm your heart. And yes, I could see it as a Hallmark Movie. Psst…I’d watch it, too."

"I absolutely fell in love with this book. It has such great festivity vibe with all the happy, jolly moments. Bayberry, as a place not only sounds amazing but at the same time it seems magical. Our protagonists Kate and Wes were beautifully written. The plot is engaging right from the beginning. A heartwarming story for everyone who believes in unexpected miracles."

"Jennifer Faye is a new to me author and it was very enjoyable to read her style of writing. She had me engaged throughout the whole book. . . . If you are looking for a good-feel story and something to get you in the holiday spirit then you should definitely grab this book. It definitely made me wish for Christmas decorations, warm cozy socks, sitting by the fire with a Christmas music in the background!"

Hallie Reads - Review

"Jennifer Faye’s Christmas in Bayberry is exactly what I expect from a Hallmark Christmas story: predictable, but also fun, cozy, and heartwarming. For me, it was a much-needed reprieve from the summer heat . . . So, it is easy to say that I enjoyed Christmas in Bayberry. I think it makes a delightful read; make space for it in your holiday-reading stack—or pick it up for a seasonal escape today."

"I am giving Christmas in Bayberry a very well deserved five plus stars. I would love to read more like this one by Miss Faye in the future. I recommend this one to readers who are Hallmark fans and those who like to read clean Christmas books."

What inspired you to write A Cowgirl's Dream

I have been involved with horses for most of my life and love happy ever afters. As an Aussie, I wanted to write a character that embodied a lot of the cowgirls that I know. I also wanted to write a story about the strong women in rodeo, their sisterhoods and men they choose to love.

"...loved it! You know my love of cowboys, and this just made me love them more! There were sweet moments and swoon worthy moments!"

"I loved Frankie’s character . . . I also loved the friendships in the book. . . . If you love horses, you will enjoy reading A Cowgirl’s Dream. This book is the first book in the series. I look forward to reading the next book."

"If you want a light romance with diverse characters, and you love cowboys, then A Cowgirl’s Dream is a new book you’ll want to check out. It’s not your typical cowboy story . . . Instead of Texas men, we have a ranch full of Brazilian cowboys & an Aussie cowgirl who ‘barrels’ in to the mix. . . . the romance is sweet with plenty of sparks and the rodeo/horse training aspect to the story is full of energy."

Splashes of Joy - Guest Post

A mock magazine interview for Luciano – The love interest

Luciano Navarro – Is he Brazil’s brightest rodeo star?

Rodeo News, March 2020

Not since the great Eduardo Cabrera dominated the bull riding scene, have we seen a Brazilian rider storm up the rankings the way Luciano Navarro has. Along with his compatriot, Joao Rojas, lately it seems every event has set the green flag flying. I was lucky enough to get a chance to sit down with Luciano after his win at Houston and interview him.

Since you started making a splash at rodeos, everyone has compared you to Eduardo Cabrera. Do you think the comparison is justified?
Obviously I appreciate being compared to a champion like that. Senhor Eduardo has been a great mentor to myself and Joao, helping us find our feet in a strange country. I hope that I can make him proud. . .

Why was it that she only owned jeans and T-shirts? Most girls have at least one dress! Giving up, Frankie dramatically flopped face-first onto her bed, deciding she would just spend the entire BBQ in that position. Honestly, there was nothing else she could do.

“Do I even want to know?” Deb popped her head into the room.

“Doff weeve muy loon,” she mumbled into the bedspread.

“Duff’s a loon? Do we even know a Duff? Hey, Megan, do you know a Duff?” Deb called down the hall.

“No, why?” came the reply from the kitchen.

“Ha-ha, you’re so funny,” Frankie grumbled, raising her head off the bed. Her hair now closely resembled a bird’s nest freshly fallen from a tree. In a storm. A bad one. Maybe cyclonic. “I said Leave. Me. Alone.” She theatrically dropped her head back down.

Wishful Endings - Guest Post

Inspiration for the Series

I really wanted to write about a core group of women that focused on the ups and downs of close female friendship. It was important to me that these women still had their own identities, dreams and struggles, all while finding love. It was always going to be about cowgirls since horses have been my passion ever since I can remember. I’m an Australian and my husband uses the most outlandish Aussie slang of anyone I’ve ever met. When we travel, most of the time no one has a clue what he’s talking about. I thought it would be fun to use some of that in my characters. . .

Hallie Reads - Review

"Get ready for a wild, romantic ride in Edith MacKenzie’s A Cowgirl’s Dream! . . . The story that unfolds between Frankie and Luciano is certainly a fun one. The author’s experience with horses shines through the rodeo aspects, and Frankie and Luciano prove to be an easy couple to root for page after page. . . . Overall, an enjoyable afternoon cowgirl-romance read. Definitely worth checking out if you’re interested . . ."

Uplifting Reads - Review

"I read the whole thing while sitting poolside on a mini-vacation. I still like to read about the competitions in addition to the romance. I have already grabbed the free prequel and am looking forward to the releases of the next in the series."

He looked at Gabi for permission. “Is she free tomorrow?”

She checked her phone. “I don’t have anything booked in for her.”

“Good. I will pick her up after lunch,” he nodded his head decisively. “I look forward to showing you around, Querida.”

“Eager little bugger, isn’t he?” whispered Deb.

“Doesn’t waste time,” agreed Megan.

“Have you guys finished?” Beet red, Frankie attempted to return to her meal.

“I think so.” Deb turned to Gabi. “Now, let’s talk about you and Joao.”

As Gabi walked off to find some drinks, Frankie self-consciously moved to one side of the food table. Curiously, she looked around at the various groups of people gathered. She found herself on the other end of a gaze with frankly the most magnetically attractive man she had ever laid eyes on. The stranger had the swarthy complexion of most of the assembled guests. He gave a slow, seductive smile while he returned her candid appraisal, a hot-blooded gleam flaring in his dark, smiling eyes, the corners crinkling into lines that looked well-used. The man had a smile that would put a Hollywood actor to shame.

What is it about cowboys and cowgirls that is so appealing in the romance genre?

The strong silent type clad in snug denim? Strong capable women that know their own mind. Especially in Australia I think it is how we still like to think of ourselves. There is a sense of romance to that type of lifestyle.

Frankie’s temper began to rise. “You are unbelievable.”

“Thank you. I hear that a lot.”

Her mouth dropped open at his arrogance and she shook her head. “I didn’t mean it in a good way. Look, good talk, let’s not rush to do this again.” She spun on her heels and walked back up the aisle.

“I did not think you were the type to run away Frankie,” he called after her, laughter in his voice.

SOME AUSTRALIAN SLANG (WHICH YOU MAY OR MAY NOT READ IN THE A COWGIRL’S DREAM)

Australia is a beautiful country filled with wildlife that wants to kill you (I won’t even go into the wild animals you won’t find at the zoos, deemed too fierce for capture, such as drop bears, hoops snakes and yetis. Google them at your own peril if you wish to find out more) and food that many outsiders consider inedible (I’m looking at you vegemite and fairy bread). However, it is the language used in the land down under that causes the most difficulty for visitors.

Remembrancy - Excerpt

“Really?” Frankie groaned in frustration as the water splashed from the bucket she had just set down in the stall, soaking the leg of her jeans.

Honestly, she didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. Maybe in the interest of expediency, she could do both at the same time? Thank goodness Delila had settled in happily, already munching on the hay net Gabi brought over. The same Gabi now popped her head over the stall and laughed at her drenched state.

“You know they have showers here, right? No need to wash in a bucket of cold water.”

What inspired you to write The Melody of the Mulberries?

My mom is the inspiration for both novels in the Big Creek Series. She grew up in rural West Virginia. Her use of Appalachian folk lure made me giggle as a small girl. She also did not mince words when talking about the joys and struggles of living in poverty in the hills. She was an overcomer.

Charlie and Charley were coming to Big Creek. Charlie was a man. He had a spirit, soul, and body. He had grown up in the hills and been sent away because of the harm he had done to others. Coral had invited Charlie back to the holler. He wasn’t physically present, but, according to Emie, Coral might as well have sat him down at the table to enjoy Sunday family dinner.

"The Melody Of the Mulberries embraces the quirks, oddities and eccentricities of a people and a way of life rarely seen now. . . . I cherish the genuine voices found here more than any other aspect of the story, which is excellent by the way. I found it interesting that the reader gets a good dose of the inner dialogue of several characters. I would like to read more stories written this way. This story is a tale of everyday life of a few residents in the region as they toil, celebrate, struggle and love."

His heart seemed to quit beating when he heard Lottie approaching. She had entered the back door of the schoolhouse. He could hear her brisk steps on the worn wooden floor. The mama bear began a slow approach and started to growl. He yelled a warning to Lottie, but within seconds the front door opened to the porch where he was standing. She had her bow and arrow in hand and was preparing to shoot.

“Where do I aim?”

“Upper chest, but wait,” Ernest cautioned. “She’s movin’ slow. I think she’s bluffing.”

True to his words, the bear turned tail and headed back to her cubs. Eruptive gas escaped from her backside which signaled her cubs that it was time to move on.

In order to redirect their attention, he thought about telling the story of Goldilocks and the three bears but remembered in one of the earlier versions of the fairy tale that Goldilocks was an old woman who ended up impaled on a steeple. He shuddered at the thought.

“Students start pushin’ the tables and chairs to the sides. I’m gonna teach you a rollick called the dancing bear.”

What kind of creature is this? Charlotte thought.

Next, the bird flew from its perch, landed on her shoulder, and started singing.
Every mornin’, every evenin’, ain’t we got fun? Not much money, oh, but honey, ain’t we got fun?

"There is a bit of humor, faith and wonderful characters to keep the reader engaged while relaxing in your favorite reading spot. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and look forward to reading more of the authors work."

"The Characters were interesting and well-defined. The scenes were easy to visualize. . . . It is an intriguing conversational text, similar to the text of Huckleberry Finn. It is a great book for relaxed reading."

He knew that Rudy was trying his best not to laugh. Ernest also knew that some sows appreciated a good love song. When he was a boy, raising hogs with his father and brother, he had learned that a gentle touch and soft voice accomplished more than a hickory stick and harsh words.

“Charlie, we’re having a not-so-nice meeting today, and I’m thinkin’ we need to talk about pleasantries,” she began. “Do you know why I’m liking mulberries so much? I like the pies and jams and the berries picked fresh, but someday I am wanting to touch silk, and, in other parts of the world, them silkworms do enjoy eating the mulberry leaves.”

“You is done crazy,” Charlie declared.

“Sometimes I am,” she answered. “But among the women in the holler there’s a longin’ for finer things. Not to get rich and leave their husbands and littles but just to know about and touch and see.”

The Melody of the Mulberries
(Big Creek Series, #2)
By Tonya Jewel Blessing
Historical Romance
Paperback & ebook, 248 Pages
September 1, 2019 by Capture Books

This sequel to The Whispering of the Willows is set in the late 1920s' Appalachia, where granny witches and spiritualism often show the path for wanderers to take, especially in matters of the heart.

This Big Creek sequel follows the lives and loves of two siblings. Coral determines to visit the family's nemesis, Charlie, now in prison for the rape of her sister, Emerald, and the murder of her inlaw. When Mercy re-enters brother Ernest's life, he has already found a new attraction in his elder brother's widow.

Coral sat in contemplation under a mulberry tree. It was spring, and the fragrant female blossoms promised the mid-summer arrival of first white, then pink, then crimson, and finally deep purple berries. The white berries were hard and tart and enjoyed by the quail, wild turkeys, mocking birds, and blue jays. The blackish purple berries were soft and sweet - perfect for pies and jams.

When the berries turned white, Coral would thank the good Lord for providing food for the birds. When the berries ripened she would thank the good Lord for the sweetness savored in her mouth and curse the birds for wanting more than their share.

Where Emerald Ashby's story leaves us in the last pages of The Whispering of the Willows, sixteen-year-old Coral Ashby's story begins. Like the changing mulberries, Appalachian siblings Coral and Ernest Ashby, navigate life through the late 1920s. Coral is determined to visit the family nemesis, Charlie, who now stews in prison.

When Ernest's previous love interest, Mercy, returns to the holler of Big Creek, she discovers that his heart is now singing a melody for Charlotte, the older Ashby brother's widow. But Mercy has brought along her own spiritual tools and a special friend who guides her way.

Accompanied by friends and foes, matters of the heart complicate life for Coral and Ernest. Relationships must be journeyed carefully.

The Whispering of the Willows
(Big Creek Series, #1)
By Tonya Jewel Blessing
Historical Romance
Paperback & ebook, 396 Pages
February 2, 2016 by Capture Books

Young Emie isn't desperate for a man, but she is surrounded by a variety of them in the Appalachian holler of Big Creek. How does a young girl find her way, and grow strong, when life begins to spin out of control?

A 1920s' saga of Emerald Ashby coming of age.

Set against the superstitions and old time religion in the Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia, author Tonya Jewel Blessing tells a difficult, yet redemptive story of a blossoming young woman who is accompanied by her friends and her foes on a journey towards hope and healing. Love weaves through gut-wrenching circumstances and dismal poverty where Emerald Ashby grows strong despite grievous wrongs committed against her. In this desperate historical setting, mysterious disappearances lead to traps set for the innocent.

Now, when key individuals begin carving out a rescue plan, Emerald Ashby sets a few of her own traps. It's a page turner. In this ailing town. What will be their measure of success?

Cleverly suspenseful and sweetly spoken, the storyteller's unassuming voice transforms an Appalachian trail of tears into holy terror against an evil that stalks the innocent. In The Whispering of the Willows, an Appalachian marriage practice might be compared to the modern sex trade which exploits young females.

Not since Catherine Marshall's strong heroine named Christy, has an Appalachian drama come to life like The Whispering of the Willows.

Includes: Bibliography and Book Club Questions. A novel for women examining the Old Time Religion. Coming of age in the Southern Appalachians. If you love a story where the underdog surfaces and thrives, you'll love this story.

Launch - Note from the Author

. . . This romantic story of loss and betrayal, forgiveness and redemption, will leave you laughing, crying, and swooning. Sprinkled liberally with suspense, mystery, and heart-melting kisses, this is not your ordinary historical tale. Fans of Victorian and Regency Eras as well as those seeking clean and wholesome romance with plenty of chemistry will love this story!

—Donna

Margaret had no one to blame for her current misery but herself. She’d been so blinded by the opportunity for an advantageous match, and so proud she’d garnered the attention of a handsome, charming marquis, that she’d failed to notice his legion character flaws until too late. Now, sixteen years into her marriage, she had few options but to keep a brave face and pretend her heart hadn’t been broken a hundred times over.

"A plucky heroine with more strength than she’s given credit for & a swoony hero with more class than he’s given credit for. Intrigue. Suspense. Romance. A well-constructed plot. Charming writing style. What more could you ask for? Even though it’s been a while since the previous Rogue Hearts book released, Hatch hasn’t lost her touch with this series or characters in the least. Her writing voice achieves a delightful balance of tender affection, dry wit, and intense feelings that proves ‘clean fiction’ doesn’t have to be boring or staid at all! Regency intrigue fans, don’t miss this series!"

Under his voice, Jackson said, “Best not to let them know who you are. Follow my lead.”

Before Margaret could reply, the justice of the peace called to Jackson.

“Sir, a moment?”

Jackson stood and replied to the JP, “Of course. But as you can see, my wife has sustained some injuries and I’d like to get her to the nearest inn where she may rest.”

Remembrancy - Review

"With a heroine whose dons a façade of strength to hide her vulnerability, a hero who admires said strength but tries not to become enamored by her, and plenty of chemistry between them, [Not a] Fine Gentleman is a diverting romp."

His question thinned whatever spell he’d wrapped around her. “Don’t you dare. As I said, I’m fully capable of warding off unwanted advances.”

“How are you at warding off wanted advances?” As his lips moved the words, they fed her craving for his kiss.

She turned her head away. “I wouldn’t know.”

He chuckled again, the lout. Oh, this would be a very long journey!

He had no pretenses. He wore his honor like a badge, or sometimes like a shield. His confidence rivaled that of any member of the haut ton, emanating from him naturally. Most men drew their confidence from their self-importance. Connor’s confidence came from a deeper source—the knowledge of his value as a human being and his ability to contribute to society. He did the right things for the right reasons. A man of integrity. Men like that were rare.

Did it really matter to Connor that they came from different worlds or did he resist because he assumed it mattered to her? Or was there another reason?

Bookworm Lisa - Review

"This story contains romance, social intrigue, mystery, and suspense. This is the fifth book in a series but can be read as a stand-alone. There are references to the other stories, but I followed along well. I really enjoyed this book."

E-Romance News - Excerpt

Glaring at him, Lady Margaret pushed again at her hair hanging around her in such a mess that her lady’s maid would probably weep. In an imperious tone, she demanded, “You didn’t sleep in this room with me, did you?”

“Of course I did,” Connor drawled. “I couldn’t risk you slipping away in the middle of the night, now could I?”

"I felt like I was in the game of Clue at times, although we know where and with what weapon the murder took place. I loved the cat-and-mouse mystery and watching the puzzle pieces slip into place, and I thought this element was well done.

This is a story for lovers of intrigue and romance to settle in with, with its thrilling plot and enchanting characters."

Splashes of Joy - Excerpt

Connor Jackson sat across the desk from Richard Birnie and gaped at the magistrate who commanded the Bow Street Constables. “You want me to hunt down Grant Amesbury’s sister? He’ll kill me.”

Truth be told, Connor wouldn’t cross any of the Amesbury men. Angering all four would be an act of suicide.

Not to mention, Grant had saved Connor’s life in battle and had treated him like an equal, a friend, all the years they’d known each other. Could he really arrest the sister of a friend?

"I must say I do enjoy a good Regency/Victorian era type story and this one did not dissappoint! I was thoroughly engaged from the first page. . . . If you like this genre then I definitely recommend this book. I suggest starting from the beginning too if you want to know the story between this whole family."

Becky on Books - Excerpt

“She didn’t kill him.” Amesbury’s vehemence set his features into one belonging to a formidable foe, should they ever find themselves on opposing sides—which they might if Connor found evidence that Lady Hennessy was guilty.

After fixing her face in his memory, Connor handed back the miniature.

Amesbury gestured. “Keep it if it will help you find her.”

Tucking the miniature safely into a pocket, Connor vowed, “I’ll find her and deliver her safely to you.”
