What inspired you to write HER INCONVENIENT CHRISTMAS REUNION?

I was first inspired to write Her Inconvenient Christmas Reunion after a once in a lifetime trip to California for a wine tour in Napa Valley. The scenery was so inspiring and breathtakingly lovely, I knew I had to plot my next book in such a setting.

Splashes of Joy - Review

"I love romance stories like this. Where the two main characters have a past, and things are touchy when they are thrown together, usually because of work. And this [is] just what happens here with Zayn and Izzy. . . . This is a sweet story that is wonderful to read during the Christmas season! Oh and that kiss under the lights, that’s a Wow! You just have to read it! . . . I encourage you to check out this sweet Christmas romance. It doesn’t take long to read so this is a wonderful one for those who don’t have the time for a full book!"

“I’m afraid we’re all out of toys,” she told whoever the newcomer was, not bothering to look. “And you probably won’t want a picture.”

“On the contrary,” replied a deep, masculine and all-too-familiar voice. “I would love a photo. You have got to be the most adorable elf I’ve ever seen.”

Izzy stood frozen in place, at a complete loss for words. She had no question who that voice belonged to. She’d know it anywhere despite all the years that had passed since she’d heard it. Zayn Joffman. As if this day hadn’t been bad enough already.

Hallie Reads - Review

"What a fun Christmas romance! . . . I am so in the mood for Christmas romances already, so I enjoyed Nina Singh’s Her Inconvenient Christmas Reunion. As Zayn and Izzy get a second chance at love, Singh sets the scene interestingly and beautifully with their shared vineyard. It is all a delight to experience, so I easily recommend this quick read to other readers in need of a holiday romance."

Holiday Traditions

Writing a holiday story is always so much fun for me. Though it can be a bit disorienting because often I find myself working on a Christmas book in the middle of July! But it serves as a great reminder of all the wonderful holiday traditions I have to look forward to in a few short months. This year in particular has been one in which I (and I’m sure many others) yearn for the familiar and comforting. . .

Becky on Books - Review

"From the first scene they’re in together (a too-small elf costume plays a part!) to the last, Zayn and Izzy light up the page. They have a lot of work to get through to find their HEA—each has family issues in addition to their own relationship problems to resolve—and it’s by no means a smooth ride from start to finish. But a little Parisian magic and a dash of Christmas spirit (plus, I did mention that there’s only one bed, yes? 😉 ) ease the way to a sweet ending that may have you looking for your own slightly snug holiday outfit…or maybe just a second chance?"

"Such a fun and delightful read and right before Christmas too!
This book is full of love, redemption, forgiveness, friendships and mending past hurts.
I very much enjoyed this novel."

"I enjoyed this sweet romance. . . The characters are well-developed. It's easy to feel their emotions. . . . I highly recommend this book to all those who enjoy a good true romance. This story is a great read."

E-Romance News - Excerpt

Steady, girl. She’d best be sure to remember this was nothing more than a business meeting.

Izzy slowed her gait and forced away the smile that had crept onto her face when she hadn’t been paying attention.

“You’re here,” he announced, flashing her a grin. He hadn’t changed his clothes, unlike her. She’d swapped out the stifling business suit for a comfortable pair of jeans and a thick, velour sweater. But Zayn remained in khakis and the same shirt. Only he’d undone the top two buttons, exposing just enough of the golden skin beneath that she wished she hadn’t noticed.

Harlie's Books - Excerpt

“Now you’ve gone and done it,” he told her, his voice loaded and serious.

What on earth was he referring to? “Done what?”

He pointed to a spot above her head. “You’re standing under mistletoe.”

She looked up to confirm he was indeed right. One of the beams along the ceiling of the tent had a dangling mistletoe plant right above where she stood. She had no idea who might have put it there. If she’d known, she might have taken care not to get caught under the darn thing. But here she was, right in the line of fire.

Christy's Cozy Corners - Review & Guest Post

"Her Inconvenient Christmas Reunion will certain get you in the mood for Christmas! Its wonderful characters, beautifully detailed settings, and meaningful themes make this a book I definitely recommend."

BAKED ZITI RECIPE, A MEAL THAT WORKS WITH ANY KIND OF WINE

Thanks to Nina Singh for this yummy baked ziti recipe!!

Her Inconvenient Christmas Reunion, my latest release for Harlequin Romance, is set mostly in a California winery. Not surprisingly, the two main characters are wine experts. So they might not agree with me about the following as I know there a lot of people who are sticklers about exactly what kind of food goes with a particular wine. But I happen to have a baked ziti recipe that I personally feel is delicious whether you’re a red or white drinker. Bonus: It’s extra cheesy. . .

". . . I would recommend this book for readers who love enemies-to-friends, second chances, and redemption/healing stories. It is a story about a series of misunderstandings, unresolved issues (until the end), rehashed mistakes, and later, healing as the truth comes outs on why things turned simpler (if they did it right, the first time) in the end. . . . It is an easy read for readers and captivating enough not to put down the book until the end. I enjoyed it a lot."

Kimber Li - Excerpt

“Come with me when I leave for Paris, Izzy.”

Her eyes grew wide with astonishment. “What? Zayn, no.”

“Why not? We could attend the expo together, make it to your ceremony, and maybe get up to speed on the latest trade developments.”

“I don’t…”

“Think about it,” he urged at her pause. “You can hop onto my itinerary. We could do some sightseeing. At the least, we may even have a little fun.”

Jorie Loves A Story - Guest Post

Mistletoe Moments

One of my favorite parts of Holiday movies or books is that iconic romantic mistletoe moment. When the main characters find themselves under the festive plant, they have the perfect excuse to finally indulge in that kiss they’ve been yearning for. My ultimate favorite one in a movie is the scene in the Sandra Bullock blockbuster, While You Were Sleeping. The longing between Lucy and Jack is downright palpable. I strive for that level of angst and longing with my mistletoe scenes, where the characters are trying their hardest to deny their growing feelings for each other. . .

Q&A with Zayn and Izzy
Character Interview

Izzy:

Q: How did it feel when you realized you’d been bequeathed the vineyard where you’d worked for so many years.

A: It was most definitely a shock. I never expected the previous owner, my boss and mentor, to leave the vineyard and business to me in her will. Of course there was a catch. And that came as an even bigger shock – I’d have to share the winery with none other than my ex. It was all part of Myrna’s bigger plan. She knew I’d never gotten over her nephew when he left for bigger pastures years ago. Her last act was to bring us back together. She always was a wise woman.

I'm a sucker for second chance romances, especially around the holidays. And the bonus to this one is that it also takes place in a winery. It's a very formulaic plot that I have read many times. But the nuances of the journey make reading it quite a lovely adventure. . . it's an enjoyable second chance romance that kept me occupied on a rainy weekend. I don't think I have read any of Nina's books before, but she is an author I will keep an eye out for in the future!"

SHE PRETENDED TO SLEEP in the car on the ride back to the hotel. She was in no mood to talk. The day felt like it had gone on hours too long. Had it really been just this afternoon when they’d attempted to tour the Eiffel Tower?

If Zayn knew she was faking, to his credit, he wasn’t calling her on it. Probably thought she was crushed by her defeat. Little did he know, that was only part of her disappointment this evening.

She fully intended to continue the charade until she heard him say something in French to the driver. “Arrêtez, si’l vous plait.” He was asking him to stop the car.

What Irin Reads - Review

"Her Inconvenient Christmas Reunion was such a charming novel, with a cozy, Christmas setting. Holiday-themed novels with a second chance romance are really winning my heart nowadays! . . . I loved this book from the beginning to end! It was a great escape, and a joyful read. I can’t wait to read more books from Nina Singh!"

What do you think it is about Christmas that makes us long to read so many romance novels?

Christmas is such an enchanting time. The lights, the festive atmosphere in the air, all the decorations. Then there’s the prospect of a new beginning and new year right around the corner. What better way to celebrate all that than by reading an entertaining story about people falling in love?

FAVORITE SECOND CHANCE STORIES AND WHY THEY ARE SO COMPELLING.

My latest release for Harlequin Romance is a second chance at love story. Something about reuniting old flames is so compelling to me as a romance author. I’m always so intrigued about the ‘one that got away’. The questions that linger about why the relationship didn’t work out and if there’s a chance things may turn out differently if only the couple had another chance. Maybe the story involves one of the characters swallowing their pride this time around. Something they found much too difficult to do the first time. But now they know how much was lost for the sake of ego. And just how little it was worth it. . .

EmpowerMoms - Review

"I love a good holiday story! . . . I enjoyed reading this sweet, romantic holiday story about love, forgiveness and starting over."

QuirkyBookReads - Review

"Her Inconvenient Christmas Reunion tells the story of Izzy and Zayn. It is well written with a charming plot where old flames reunited with a charming holiday twist.

The characters were were easy to fall in love with sizzling chemistry between the main characters. . . . I would recommend Her Inconvenient Christmas Reunion to anyone who loves a second chance romance with steamy makeout scenes. The story provides you with the opportunity to set the mood for the Christmas Holiday."

@onemused - Review

"The Christmas setting here was woven beautifully with the story from baking cookies to Santa to more. I also loved the pace, which keeps interest throughout, and I found this to be a book I could enjoy in a single afternoon. . . . This book is such a fantastic second chance romance with a charming holiday setting that deserves to be read cozied up with some cocoa. Izzy and Zayn's story is a great one with all the Christmas feels."

"Her Inconvenient Christmas Reunion is a poignant and irresistible romantic read that sparkles with warmth, emotion, intensity and heart. Nina Singh has written a second chance romance about letting go of the past, moving on and the magic of falling in love that will hold readers spellbound from beginning to end. . . . A terrific contemporary romance that makes for perfect holiday reading, Nina Singh’s Her Inconvenient Christmas Reunion is a stellar read that is absolutely impossible to put down."

She sat slowly, the note still cradled in her hand. Her eyes fell to the other two objects on the surface of the table. She’d been so focused on the note, she hadn’t noticed them until now. Folded in a neat square was the scarf he’d let her borrow so often to ward off the chill over the past few days. He’d left it for her. On top of the scarf there was a small cardboard box with a satin ribbon tied around the center. Her hand trembling, she reached for it and loosened the bow.

"There’s something about Christmas that makes second chance romances that much more enjoyable, and that’s certainly the case in Her Inconvenient Christmas Reunion. Zayn & Izzy have sizzling chemistry . . . the author does have a limit to the steam and keeps it pretty well within those boundaries (which I appreciated.) From the romantic settings (a Napa Valley vineyard & Paris at Christmas) to the great characters and the sweet message of forgiveness, this is a well-written romance with all the holiday feels!"

. . . Welcome to the An Alaskan Family Christmas tour. We’ve got some great blogs this week, with excerpts and reviews and a fun Christmas giveaway. Hope you can make all the stops, and that your holiday season is filled with joy, laughter, and wonderful stories.

—Beth

"This is an often humorous tale of a woman devoted to her friend and who had never enjoyed a real Christmas celebration. She had a very hopeless negative attitude concerning any long term relationship. mistake left her abandoned and at the mercy of and unusual situation. The story is delightful! If this doesn't put one into a "Christmasy" mood, then he/she must be slightly "Scroogey"."

"I thought this sweet romance was a really good read. It was fun getting to know Natalie and Tanner. I was entertained with this story from start to finish. It was such a feel good tale. I loved it. . . . I highly recommend it for readers who enjoy clean and heartwarming romance that are set during the Christmas season."

“Nope.” Natalie tugged her mitten off with her teeth, dug around in her coat pocket until she found her wallet and handed over her bank card. “Hopefully something will break today, because I have to fly out this afternoon.”

“I hope the jerk shows up soon, and you nail him to the wall.”

“I can’t,” Natalie admitted as she dropped a dollar into the tip jar. “I have strict orders to find out where he lives, report back and let my friend be the one to tell him about the baby. She wants to break it to him gently.”

Remembrancy - Review

". . . there’s a lot to recommend An Alaskan Family Christmas. . . . Carpenter does not skimp on the holiday cheer in this story. From Christmas tree hunting to decorating to baking to the gifts on Christmas morn, the holiday resonates on each page. If you’re looking for a story to get you in the holiday spirit, this is it."

"An Alaskan Family Christmas was such a fun and enjoyable Christmas story. I really felt like it was Christmas time as I read about the Rockford family’s various Christmas traditions. I loved that they all got together at the rustic family cabin for their holidays."

"Beth Carpenter brought to life the rugged warmth of an Alaskan Christmas and the time for family that just warmed my heart. . . . I truly loved Tanner and Natalie’s story. They made a great couple, had some funny moments, and a realistic relationship (as much as you can in fiction) that was sweet. I enjoyed how Beth Carpenter made me feel invited into the family of characters right from the beginning it pulled me in and did not let me go 😊."

EmpowerMoms - Review

"I really enjoyed this holiday story! It was easy to read and I loved all the characters in the book especially Natalie and Tanner. It was so funny how Natalie tried to tail Tanner without being too obvious on the train. What an amazing friend Natalie is! . . . Highly recommend this fun, lighthearted holiday story which will definitely make you smile and laugh."

"Beth Carpenter’s voice is shining bright with the latest in her Northern Lights series. The characters are well developed and a joy to get to know, the holiday atmosphere is heartwarmingly real and the happily ever after is super satisfying. I loved every single minute of AN ALASKAN FAMILY CHRISTMAS! . . . I highly recommend this book and the entire series to anyone who enjoys a heartwarming story revolving around the gorgeous scenery of Alaska."

maiaisreading - Review

"Even with the mix-up, it is so sweet of Tanner and his family to envelope Natalie in their circle and makes her feel welcome. I don’t think I will follow someone without more details but well this is fiction and it’s a fun read. My favorite is their time in the cabin. All that snow and picturesque views sounds wonderful. . . . I like the twists in the story and how things turned out in the end. This is a fun, clean and family oriented story. A little love goes a long way."

"As much as I loved the setting of An Alaskan Family Christmas, it is the characters that will worm their way into your hearts…especially Tanner’s nieces. . . . Of course, I was entertained by the interactions among all of Tanner’s family and Natalie as they spent several days in the cabin together. The author’s description of the time the family spent together at the cabin really warmed my heart. . . . I think that An Alaskan Family Christmas will warm your heart as much as it did mine. This is a book you won’t want to put down, nor will you want it to end! Get a copy ASAP and enjoy!"

"I have read a few of the books in this series, and I love them. My favorite part about this one was Christmas at the remote cabin, with no utilities. Oh, how lovely it sounded from the home-made ornaments to northern lights and sledding with Vitus. Ms. Carpenter has such a fantastic way of transporting you into her worlds, with humor, memorable characters, and the most stunning scenery. My rating for An Alaskan Family Christmas by Beth Carpenter is five stars as the writing is wonderful, and the story is lovely."

Hallie Reads - Review

"With plenty of romance and humor (as readers of Carpenter’s Northern Lights series can expect), An Alaskan Family Christmas proves to be heartwarming and fun. I can easily recommend it to readers looking for a contemporary Christmas read."

"The characters (all of them including the family) are well written. The storyline is a fun one. The author seems to know a lot about Alaska and all it's wilderness. I enjoyed that. I also enjoyed all the Christmas/Holiday stuff in this book. The romance is sweet and follows along with the standards of the Harlequin Heartwarming series."

A voice called out from the shadows in the rear of the room, “Who’s there?”

“It’s just me, Tanner Rockford.”

“Oh, hey, Tanner. Your family already stopped by on their way to the cabin, and your uncle left the utility sled out back for you. Those girls are sure excited about Santy Claus.”

Girls? Natalie’s jaw began to ache under the strain of holding her tongue while pretending she didn’t know anything about Rockford. Married, just as she had suspected. Worse, he had kids. Brooke would be devastated. But at least Natalie knew his real name.

"I've read a couple of Beth Carpenters other books in this series and loved them, so I knew I needed to read this one. And I was not disappointed. There is something about the mystique of Alaska. Throw in a Christmas holiday and you have a recipe for magic and romance. . . . This story really did give me a magical feeling while I was reading it, especially during the Christmas holiday. It's been a while since I truly felt that kind of magic in a holiday romance. It makes me want to reread this and to revisit the rest of the series, especially to catch up on any that I have missed!"

Lisa's Reading - Excerpt

Her phone showed two bars. She got off a quick email confirming her hotel reservation and glanced over at Rockford. He was stashing his laptop in his satchel. Probably planning to stretch his legs. She could use a stroll, too, but following him up and down the train would be a little too obvious.

He pulled his coat down from the overhead shelf and put it on. Hmm. Maybe he was changing cars for some reason. She supposed it didn’t really matter. He’d have to claim his luggage in Anchorage, so he couldn’t get away before she did. He came to her seat and touched her shoulder. “Goodbye, Natalie. I hope you enjoy your new job.” Without waiting for a reply, he walked down the aisle toward the rear of the train.

Wait. Why was he telling her goodbye? They still had several hours before they arrived in Anchorage. What was he up to?

"Just like each of its predecessors, An Alaskan Family Christmas has great characters that camp out in your heart, an engaging plot & sweet romance to keep you turning the pages, and a setting that will take your breath away! Combine a spark-filled romance with the embrace of Christmas, and the laughter & warmth of family, and you’ve got a truly enjoyable read from start to finish!"

"I fell hard for this family and for the warmth Carpenter brought into how she told this story - reading it was such a refreshing balm to my soul . . . If Ms Carpenter is on the fence about writing more installments for this series - I hope she extends it out to a rounded eight, ten or twelve novels all told because she could seriously keep penning these lovelies as I wickedly keep devouring them!"

Pause for Tales - Review

"I really liked this close-knit family. . . by the end, the author made me care about all the characters. Even the recluse and missing Dane. This Christmas story was full of surprises, both good and unexpected."

"Author Beth Carpenter has written another story with Alaska as the beautiful setting and it offers intriguing characters, sweet chemistry, and fun family moments. It's the perfect tale to put you into the Christmas spirit and I recommend An Alaskan Family Christmas to all who enjoy clean romance and heartwarming holiday stories."

"I am ALWAYS up for a good Christmas story, and definitely a cute one. This cover really stood out and I just HAD to read it. . . . It was terribly hard to put down. . . . I really enjoyed this book. And, I am sure fans of the author and genre will undoubtedly enjoy this fun, old-fashioned, sweet romp through the snow Christmas read that plays out much like a beloved Hallmark movie."

"An Alaskan Family Christmas is a charming contemporary romance that will touch the heart and bring a great big smile to everyone’s face. Beth Carpenter effortlessly blends humor, warmth and emotion in a poignant tale about second chances, healing from the past and the magic of falling in love. . . A delightful contemporary holiday romance, Beth Carpenter’s An Alaskan Family Christmas is not to be missed."

It's the Grand Finale for THE COWBOY'S HOLIDAY BRIDE by Cathy McDavid! #CHBPrism

On Tour with Prism Book Tours

We hope you enjoyed the tour! If you missed any of the stops
you'll find snippets, as well as the link to each full post, below:

Launch - Note from the Author

I’m so excited for the release of THE COWBOY’S HOLIDAY BRIDE, book one in my news series Wishing Well Springs. All four of the books in the series are very — and I stress very — loosely inspired by a different popular rom com movie. . .

"The Cowboy’s Holiday Bride by Cathy McDavid is a sweet holiday romance that is so entertaining. I loved Ms. McDavid’s approach with this one and how it is truly an enlightening tale. Wishing Well Springs is a nice Western-themed wedding destination, or I would think even going for a Western event would be cool. I am giving this book four stars and recommending it to everyone that likes these types of books."

"This book gave me that warm and fuzzy feeling right out of the gate and helped to keep me warm even as the early snow was blustering outside my window. I'm now completely in the holiday romance mood and want more! And I am very much looking forward to future installments in this sweet romantic series."

"Sweet, swoony and smile-inducing, The Cowboy’s Holiday Bride is a must-read for fans of small town holiday romances. From the completely charming wedding venue to the magic of the Christmas season, readers will fall in love with Wishing Well Springs even while they are falling for the characters too. Cash and Phoebe bring out the best – and the worst – in each other, allowing for fun banter/bickering and delightfully romantic moments. Eager to read the next book and catch up with Cash, Phoebe, and Laurel too!"

EmpowerMoms - Review

"This was a sweet, fun to read, holiday twist of the classic “The Christmas Carol” story. I love heartwarming Harlequin books because they are clean, easy to read, entertaining and a great escape from real life. . . . Lots of laughs and holiday spirit in this entertaining story. I really enjoyed it!"

No one in their right mind climbed a fifteen-foot extension ladder in flaming red three-inch heels—which, in Cash Montgomery’s mind, explained a lot.

He strode through the barn’s wide entrance, removing his denim jacket first, then his Stetson, and tossing both onto the nearest table. While bare now, it would soon be sheathed in a linen tablecloth, set with fine china and silver flatware, and surrounded by happy guests. That was, if Phoebe Kellerman didn’t accidentally kill herself first and cause the wedding to be cancelled.

"What a beautifully written, delightful, fun and entertaining read! I loved this story from the very start. I thought Cash and Phoebe had great chemistry. The plot was somewhat predictable but still so very good. . . . I highly recommend it for readers who enjoy reading clean romance. It is most definitely a must read."

"This clean romance was quite cute, with several romantic twists as the hero, Cash learns a lesson in visits from his three ex-fiancees. . . . The banter between the main characters was really great"

Remembrancy - Review

"The fuse between Phoebe and Cash is sparked by witty dialogue and butting heads, but it soon catches with growing attraction. I felt like a guest during the gorgeous Christmas wedding scenes, and the last one is just a little sweeter than the rest.

With this being the first book in a new series, I look forward to visiting Wishing Well Springs again soon."

@onemused - Review

"THE COWBOY'S HOLIDAY BRIDE is a sweet Christmas romance that takes a fun twist on A CHRISTMAS CAROL. . . . I really enjoyed reading their story and the setting of the place where romance happens with lots of happy couples. The twist was truly delightful, and it all puts the reader in the holiday mood with a heartwarming romance. I loved Phoebe and Cash - they are both great characters in their own way, and they really bring out the best in each other. . . THE COWBOY'S HOLIDAY BRIDE is a charming Christmas read that brings on the holiday spirit and romance. Recommend for people looking for a new, fun contemporary romance read."

"I loved the surprises in store for Cash. His former fiancé has a lot to do with the surprises. I enjoyed the closeness that Cash had with his family. The book had me hooked from the first page."

Splashes of Joy - Review

"The Cowboy’s Holiday Bride is another Christmas story that I love! I had so much fun reading this sweet story about Phoebe and Cash. . . . There were some twists in the story. Tensions were a bit tight at times when Cash had visits from his past, but they were ironed out and everything was good again. I really enjoyed Cash and Phoebe, their chemistry was phenomenal, just what I love in a sweet Romance."

"McDavid has the knack for creating Western ranches and wedding venues with the care and concern of those who work there . . . I felt this provided just the right amount of irony for the series - how they can plan and produce weddings but they cannot find that kind of sweetened harmonic happiness in their own lives . . . There is a lot of tongue-in-cheek moments between Phoebe and Cash - where they are each not necessarily willing to compromise with the other but where they get into bouts of arguments where you can tell neither one minds being the one to compromise in the end. You can see how they are simply two persons who never fully gave each other the time or inclination to pursue romantically and in that kind of way, the set-up McDavid has provided for the backdrop of this novel is apt fodder for a romance reader to soak inside because of the drama it organically brings into the story-line."

"The Cowboy's Holiday Bride is a heartwarming holiday romance filled with likeable characters, witty dialogue, a great small town setting, and the special magic associated with Christmas. I recommend it to all who enjoy contemporary romantic fiction and I look forward to more books in this Wishing Well Springs series by author Cathy McDonald."

Left with no choice, he admitted, “Um, actually, I’ll be here for the next three weeks. I’m covering for Laurel while she’s in Palm Springs,” he finished with less conviction than he would have liked.

“You’re covering for your sister,” Phoebe repeated slowly.

“Yeah. We—you and I—are going to be working together. Well, more than we usually do.” He produced what he hoped passed for an affable smile “I’m your new able-bodied assistant.”

“You’re…joking.”

“Afraid not.”

"This book was sweet, a little sassy, and made me smile. I so enjoyed getting to read and learn about Cash and Phoebe. I thought that their story was well laid out, had good character arcs, and I loved (have I said I loved the interesting take on A Christmas Carol?) Cathy McDavid’s unique and fun take on this classic story. It was just what I needed in the midst of this season. I recommend it to anyone wanting a feelgood story that will make you warm and fuzzy inside."

"This fun story is a nice start to a new series set at Wishing Well Springs . . . I was happy with the ending to this sweet novel and hope that both Cash and Phoebe truly were able to change for the better and be a couple who would truly last."

Hallie Reads - Review

". . . Cathy McDavid’s The Cowboy’s Holiday Bride delighted me from beginning to end. . . . The Cowboy’s Holiday Bride offers a fun twist on a classic holiday tale. The friendship between Cash and Phoebe proves endearing and makes them an easy couple to cheer toward romance. I definitely recommend this to readers looking for a Christmas romance to read this season."

"This beautiful, emotional, and endearing story does have a happily ever after. The author brought real life issues, dual perspectives, and realistic feelings to life in a lively story that held my attention with engaging writing and fast paced storyline. I definitely found it hard to put down. I’d definitely be interested in reading more."

“What does that mean?” Phoebe was less adept than her sister at interpreting tones and inflections.

“Just that… Well, come on. You. And Cash. Together…”

“So what?” Don’t say it. Please.

“You…like him—”

“I do not,” Phoebe insisted with enough vehemence that Georgia Ann sent her a curious look.

"This is a super-cute cute novel with delightful characters and a wonderful premise. I quickly became interested in the story of Cash Montgomery, his sister, Laurel and their business partner/friend, Phoebe Kellerman. . . . There is so much to love about this book, there is a strong loving, hardworking family dynamic, solid friendships, genuine care and concern for each and every wedding they plan and just an all around sweet fun read."

What inspired you to write JORDAN'S DELIVERANCE?

It is the third and final book in the Jordan of Algoran Christian Science-Fantasy series. I started work on the series in 2015 with a basic premise: God is not limited to Earth. He reigns over the whole universe. So, He is able to reach Jordan, even when she and her mother are abducted and taken to another world. I decided to carry this idea throughout the series and to its conclusion.

Bookstagram Tour
(With its own giveaway - ends 10/25/20.)

Rincón de Joss - Excerpt

The Observance Torch was the same as any other torch, but it was adorned with red jula crystals, reinforced with twine, and its top was dipped in animal fat and dusted with crushed dry jikpal leaves which made the flames take on a violet shade. When the Observance Torch was lit, it told the villagers passing by her hut not to enter, since the Chieftess was seeking wisdom and guidance from the Father of Spirits whom she called God.

Part of Jordan’s Deliverance is set on Earth in the early 2070s. Before I wrote those scenes, I had to ask myself a few important questions:
1. How much could Earth change in fifty years?
2. What kind of technological advances might occur in that time?
3. Would Jordan even recognize her (fictional) hometown of Chase Creek, Colorado?
4. Would people speak any differently or use different jargon? . . .

Uplifting Reads - Excerpt

“You are taking a big risk acting this way,” Commander Imbador warned. “Getting that pardon will take even longer.”

“I am the only one who has the information you need. I think that justifies the risk,” Zeetra countered, her frown transforming to a smile. She put her hands behind her head, locking her fingers as she leaned back against the bed confidently. “And right now, I have nothing but time.”

Adventures of a Travelers Wife - Interview and Review

How did you dream up this world and all its details?

I had to start from scratch. Originally, I was imagining this as purely a fantasy tale. But it soon became clear that this was going to mostly take place on an alien world called Algoran. I tried to envision another world, as diverse in land, sea, and people as any other world. I made it clear from the beginning that this was an Earth-like world or else the main character, Jordan, and her mother would not have been able to survive, much less thrive.

In keeping with the fantasy concept, however, I did not want a lot of advanced technology. I wanted this world to be a contrast to Earth, to picture life without our modern conveniences while depicting the beauty and dangers of nature. Growing up in a major Texas city, it was an enjoyable challenge to flesh out a world the complete opposite of what I knew. I had to do a lot of research to understand different regions and climates.

"Whew, what a way to begin a series! Jordan pulled me in from the beginning and made me so curious about her as a person and how Allen Steadham would mold her as a character. . . . The plot was also really good and hooked me from the first page . . . I totally enjoyed this story and definitely recommend it if you are willing to take a leap into a world not quite our own. 5 out of 5 stars for the great character build up, faith interwoven themes, and for leaving me wanting more." - Jordan's World

Hallie Reads - Excerpt

Jordan hadn’t felt the rush of the vortex in decades. It had grabbed her like a thing alive and thrashed her about in its clutches, shifting violently in a torrent of motion as lights flashed all around her. When it finally released her, she was barely coherent enough to land on her feet and run to a stop. Then she heard something approaching. Whatever it was, it was big and so close, it was almost on top of her.

I cannot get out of the way in time!

This is a very intriguing story. There is a lot of mystery and adventure throughout. It's an interesting new world for Jordan and it's impressive how well she adjusted to her new surroundings. . . . The characters are awesome. They are all well-developed and it is easy to feel their emotions. - Jordan's World

It was fun to continue to follow Jordan and her old and new friends. There is so much adventure in this story. You get to meet new tribes of people on their planet of Algoran. . . . The story flows well from chapter to chapter and is easy to follow along." - Jordan's Arrow

A great continuation of Jordan on Algoran. Watching Jordan and her family grow and strengthen is a great treat. So many new and wonderful characters that you get to know . . . I think this is a great story and recommend it to teen to adult readers. - Jordan's Deliverance

4.) To which character did you best relate?

The main character, Jordan. There are many enjoyable characters in the series, but it’s centered around Jordan for a reason: we follow her life, the ups and downs, joys and losses. We get to see her grow as a woman. She’s not perfect, she makes some big mistakes along the way, but she has a good heart. She’s the most relatable character, in my opinion.

Wishful Endings - Guest Post

I make no secret that I’m a Star Trek fan, going all the way back to The Original Series. I watched it in syndication in the 1970s as a child. From 2005 to 2015, I only read Star Trek novels. So here are my top ten influences from the TV, movies, and books. . .

Splashes of Joy - Excerpt

Instead, she took in a deep breath and was grateful something had actually happened. She grabbed the sapphire-hued javelin with both hands, pulling it close to her chest. A new fire burned in her gaze.

“I am the granddaughter of Snow and Fire! I will protect you and look after your needs,” she declared. “Give me your trust and I shall not disappoint you. I will also consult with my torkomm and the village elders. All will be well.”

Bookworm Lisa - Review

". . . this story is about growing and becoming. Jordan has difficult decisions and knows that there is a deity who watches over her, even though she is far away from home. She learns for herself where her home is and whom she can believe in.

I am intrigued at what future endeavors and adventures await Jordan and her friends." - Jordan's World

What inspired you to write THIS CHRISTMAS?

My pastor, an avid snowboarder, shared how much he enjoyed visiting Park City, Utah. His stories inspired me to dream up a suspense series set in a fictional ski village called Polaris. For THIS CHRISTMAS, I wanted to feature a ‘seasoned’ second chance couple with older kids, and the good and bad that come with an empty nest.

After closing his eyes, he reopened them and took a deep breath. Their Christmas tree was set up in the corner, filled with lights and family ornaments. Three stockings hung off the fireplace mantel. Grief and anger scorched his insides. Why had Kenna decorated for Christmas after he’d asked her to leave everything packed away? His late wife’s stocking, snuggled between Kenna’s and his own, ripped at his heart. I can’t breathe. The bright and cheery room blurred his vision. Christmas was no longer welcome in his house. How could he celebrate when his world had been crushed?

Hallie Reads - Excerpt

Christmas decorations were so prevalent, he wondered how many one person could own. A miniature Christmas tree sat in the entryway, filled with glass ornaments of a variety of foods. The Batista house burst with merry cheer—a stark contrast to his home. The smells drifting down the hallway from the kitchen reminded him of past holidays when he’d come home to find Maggie and Kenna elbow-deep in cookie dough and frosting. Pain pressed against his temples, and Luke blocked out the memories. “I’m here about Alex. You called and reported him missing?”

Splashes of Joy - Review

"This is such a fun story, a story that tells of difficulties in families, but love still flows through no matter what. . . . If you are looking for a good clean story to read during the Christmas holiday, this is a great choice."

“I won’t stay long. As soon as I know she’s good, I’ll head back to town.” He blew over the top of the cup before taking another drink.

“No one will blame you for taking a day off.” She rested a hand on his arm. “Especially for your daughter.”

“I’ll take some time off once we find Alex and arrest the bad guys.” The corner of his lip lifted in a semi-smile.

E-Romance News - Excerpt

Out of the corner of his eye, he admired her beautiful face. Only a few fine lines were displayed on her otherwise smooth skin. She had striking cheekbones, and the rosy color filling the area below them gave her a youthful glow. Her good looks were well-developed—like a photograph, crisp and vivacious. “This might be a rude question, but how old were you when you had Alex and Marco? You don’t look old enough to have sons that age.”

QuirkyBookReads - Review

"It is well written with an creative description that paints a clear picture. The flow throughout is good with great character development. . . . I would recommend This Christmas as warm tale of finding love it is a good book [cozy] up in a blanket and read."

Becky on Books - Excerpt

Removing his hands from her hair, he rested one on each cheek, gently cupping her face.

The smooth touch of metal on her skin made her jerk away. She didn’t have to see his left hand to know he still wore his wedding ring. She struggled for breath and the right words, finally pulling away.

Books & Benches - Excerpt

Celia bit her tongue, knowing how strongly Luke disliked Kenna’s interest in welding and art. But Kenna was at an age when she had her entire life spread out before her. She could take chances, and someday soon, she’d fly. “She’s a good daughter. You’re right, though, about her not being with you forever. I come home to an empty house after school, and sometimes, the quiet is more unnerving than when I’d walk into a house full of fighting boys.”

“I’m fine with being alone.” Luke’s blue eyes darkened, turning the color of the sky at twilight.

“Dad test?” Kenna set down the piece of copper on the workbench in order to pet her dog, whose large frame sat on her feet. “Do I even want to know?”

“I’m a cop and a Marine veteran. No, you don’t want to know what I have planned.” Luke walked over to the old radio and turned up the volume. A modern country melody filled the space. “If you were back at Stanford, you could date without interference from your overprotective dad.”

After reading for about forty-five minutes, Celia’s eyes grew tired. A large cup of coffee from the lodge café would rouse her. Just as she was about to stand, a tall man wearing a beaten Stetson entered through the lobby’s front doors. At the sight of Luke Veldkamp, her breath hitched in her throat and her body went on high alert. If her heart didn’t slow down, she might end up with a cracked rib. She lightly pressed her fist on the hallow of her chest in an attempt to calm her heart rate.

Wishful Endings - Review

"THIS CHRISTMAS is a story of letting go of grief and learning to open your heart again. It's about family loyalty. It's also about fighting for new beginnings and love. An overall sweet story for romance lovers."

Lisa's Reading - Excerpt

Downtown Polaris was bustling with activity. Most of the small shops on Main Street had closed for the night, but the restaurants and bars were well lit and drawing large crowds of tourists. Strands of Christmas lights hung on every building, and a massive, decorated pine tree was placed at the entrance to the city park. The holiday cheer mocked him. He calculated the cost of electricity. So many better ways that money could be put to use.

Celia went through the entire store, showing every worker Alex’s photo and asking if they recalled seeing him yesterday. Each Alpines associate was friendly, but none had remembered her tall, dark-haired son. For as busy as the store was, she didn’t blame them. But all she needed was one person to have paid attention to Alex yesterday. One person who’d spoken with him or remembered him leaving the store. Each second she wasted hunting down clues delayed finding her son. Alex could be stuck somewhere, injured and waiting for help.

Bookworm Lisa - Excerpt

Celia strode away from Luke and toward Andrew. How could she have gotten swept up in her longing for affection and passion that she almost let herself fall for Luke Veldkamp? His heart and soul were as boarded-up as a beach town during a hurricane.

“What’s he doing here?” Andrew scowled. “And why is your face so red, Mom? Maybe you should sit. You look ready to fall over.”

I'm Into Books - Excerpt

Back inside his truck, he caught a whiff of Celia’s floral scent. His blood warmed in response, and his chest tightened. Focus on your job. Which, as of now, was Celia. And his mind looped back to her.

The roads in town had been cleared, but as soon as he reached the mountain pass leading to the cabin, conditions grew worse. His four-wheel-drive truck struggled in spots, and he drove slow and steady. The last thing he needed now was to send his truck, along with himself, over a cliff. Normally, the trip took about forty-five minutes. Today, he white-knuckled it for an hour and a half before reaching the driveway to the cabin.

Harlie's Books - Review

"It’s a beautifully written book about dealing with loss, new love, and realizing that your adult children aren’t children anymore. . . . The suspense part of the book is top-notch. It is what drives the plot. Plausible and tension-filled at times but not over the top. Ms. Winter does an excellent job of keeping the tension up while keeping the book character-driven and the potential romances in the front. She blends it seamlessly for me as a reader. You know me, I’m a huge romantic suspense reader so for an author to do that, I’m hooked."

“You lost him so young.” Kenna rested a hand on her shoulder.

“Yes, he was.” Celia wondered how he’d look now, if he’d lived to see his forties. Would his hair have turned silver early, like his dad’s? Would he have had to work out to keep the extra weight from creeping on, like she did, or would he have kept his youthful metabolism? “Luis and I didn’t wait for someday. We had a good life together, even if it was too short.”

". . . the twists and turns, shock along the journey to the conclusion for Luke, Kenna, Celia, Alex and Marco are redemptive and wonderful."

Heidi Reads... - Excerpt

Her heart beat increased in speed, along with her running pace. With fumbling gloved fingers, she reached inside the hoodie pocket for her cell phone. It slipped out of her grasp and onto the ground. She skidded to a stop and picked up her phone with a trembling hand. The sound of heavy breathing made bile rise in her throat. If she didn’t make it back to the beginning of the trail and out into the open soon, she might never get back.

"This is a super story. I loved the intrigue and mystery in the story. I like the family dynamics with Celia and it was interesting to follow Luke's emotional ups and downs. . . . I highly recommend this story to those who enjoy mystery and great romance."
